Trevor Jackson

Captain Trevor Jackson has operated offshore dive liveaboards for the past 15 years. One of Australia's most experienced dive boat captains; he has located nearly two dozen previously unknown shipwrecks.

In May 2002 he and Professor Simon Mitchell staged the infamous "Centaur Dive", in an effort to uncover the truth about that notorious wreck. What they found rewrote the history books and the repercussions of their discovery are still being felt. The real Centaur was eventually located discovered in 2009.

Trevor is the author of dozens of magazine articles on diving safety, wreck exploration and archaeology. In 2005 he was named OzteK Diver of the Year for his contributions to wreck exploration and in 2007 he published his first book, "Wreck Diving in Southern Queensland".

During 2008 Trevor developed a search technique which uses specially designed buoys to facilitate the location of persons lost on the sea surface. In October 2009 the system was granted an Australian Patent.

Trevor has spoken at the last two OzteKs on the subject of diving safety and offers a unique perspective on the subject, both as a participant himself and a supervisor of others
