John Dalla-Zuanna

John Dalla-Zuanna completed a diving course in 1973 and began Cavediving in that same year after a club trip to Mt. Gambier.

As a 35-year member of the CDAA and current Penetration Diver instructor, John has, since the late-1970's - dived caves in Florida, New Zealand, Yugoslavia and Italy, as well as caves throughout Australia. A member of the ASF - CDG, John still dives and maps caves, particularly in the Mt Gambier region, and is a recipient of the NSS-CDS 2007 Exploration Award.

Currently a PADI Master Instructor and, for fifteen years, a PADI Course Director in Melbourne, notable expeditions in which John has taken part include: Kija Blue, in the Kimberleys, a remote sinkhole in northern Western Australia, 2006: Tank Cave, Mt Gambier, SA, ongoing mapping & surveying of over 8 klms of underwater passage: Slug Lake, Jenolan Caves, NSW 2007: RMS Niagara, NZ Shipwreck Expedition 2007: Cocklebiddy Cave, WA in 2008 & 2009: Blue Lake, Mt Gambier, SA. Soil Sampling & videography: Picanninie Ponds, SA. Ongoing deep survey & 3D mapping Project: Junee Resurgence, Tasmania 2009; and the Pearse Resurgence, New Zealand expedition, in 2010.

John also enjoys deep wrecks, and when not cave diving can often be found off the South East coast of Australia diving the casualties of WW2.

John's hobbies also include the development of specialized equipment for the various expeditions, including: The "Thumper", a ground penetrating underwater radiolocation system, Side mount Rebreathers, Lithium Polymer Batteries for scooters for extended range travel and Heated Vests for extended time in cold water diving.

Work allowing, John hopes to squeeze in a couple more expeditions before OZTek'11.
