Scubapro/OZTeK’11 Photo Competition Cancelled

After lengthy deliberation, the organisers have decided to cancel the Scubapro/OZTeK’11 Underwater Imagery Competition.

The decision to do so has been a difficult one to make and – paradoxically - one that, in part, has been prompted by the competition’s previous success in attracting entries; a factor that, in turn, has created an enormous increase in overheads and time spent organising and administering the free-entry competition.

Launched at the OZteK’02 Event as a – then – unique underwater photographic competition focussed on cave and wreck diving images, the successive ’05, ’07 and ’09 OZTeK events witnessed a dramatic increase in the number of competition entries. With well over 500 individual images submitted for the Scubapro/OZTeK’09 Photo Competition, the steadily increasing workload was beginning to place placing too great a strain on the resources presently available to the competition organisors.

Appreciating a need to change the competition’s infra-structure, a re-vamped OZTeK Underwater Imagery Competition is confidently expected to be re-instated as an integral part of the next OZTeK event.

We apologise for any disappointment that the cancellation of the Scubapro/OZTeK’11 Photo Competition may cause, and the organisers would like to take this opportunity to thank all of those magnificently talented underwater photographers and image makers for their previous support.
